Occupational cancer

Okay kiddo, you know how we try to keep ourselves healthy by eating vegetables and exercising? Well, some grown-ups have jobs that can make them very sick, too. This is called occupational cancer.

When grown-ups work with certain things like chemicals, asbestos, or radiation, they could breathe in or touch them, and that can cause cancer. This is because those things can damage the body's cells, and the cells start growing and dividing uncontrollably.

It's kind of like a weed in the garden. You know how weeds can grow really fast and take over the garden? Well, cancer cells can grow like weeds and take over the body if they aren't stopped.

That's why it's important for grown-ups who work with those things to be very careful and wear protective gear, like masks and gloves, to keep themselves safe. And it's also important for them to go to the doctor regularly and get checked for cancer, even if they don't feel sick.

Just like how we go to the doctor to get a check-up and stay healthy, grown-ups who work with these things have to be extra careful to make sure they don't get sick from their job.
