Oil lamp

An oil lamp is like a magical lantern that runs on oil. It has a little bowl or container where we put some special oil. The oil is like a special kind of fuel that makes the lamp glow. We light a wick with a match or lighter and it sits in the oil. As we light the wick, it absorbs the oil and slowly starts burning. It glows and gives off light, just like the light bulbs we have in our homes.

The oil lamp comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some are small, like the ones we use on our birthday cakes, and others are as big as our bedside lamps. We put the oil lamp anywhere we need light, like when we're reading a book in our bed or when we're having a picnic outside.

Oil lamps have been around for a very long time, way before we had light bulbs and electricity. Our ancestors used them to see in the dark before they went to sleep. They're still used in some places where people live in the dark without lights.

It's very important to be careful around oil lamps because they can be dangerous if they're not used properly. We should always follow the instructions and make sure we have a grown-up with us when we light them.
