ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Old Weather

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard the story of how grandpa used to walk miles and miles in the snow to get to school? That's what we call "old weather" which means the weather from a really long time ago, before you were even born!

Back then, people didn't have fancy machines like we do now to predict the weather. Instead, they had to rely on things like looking at the sky and feeling how cold or warm it was outside.

Sometimes the old weather was really cold and snowy, which made it hard for people to go outside and do things. Other times, it was really hot and sunny, and people got to have picnics and play outside all day.

Nowadays, people use computers and satellites to help predict the weather, so we usually know what to expect before we even go outside. But it's still fun to hear stories from grandpa about how he used to trudge through the snow to get to school on those really cold days!
