ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

One hot encoding

One hot encoding is like giving things a special code. It is like giving each thing a name so that you remember it better. For example, in one hot encoding, you might assign the number 0 to the color blue, 1 to the color red and 2 to the color green. That way, when you come across the color blue, you know it's 0 and when you come across the color red, you know it's 1. This way, it's easier to remember which thing is which.
