ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Open government

Open government is when the government takes steps to make sure that citizens can learn about what’s going on in their government. It’s like throwing open a door and letting everyone peek inside. That way, people can see what kinds of decisions are being made and have the chance to have their voices heard in those decisions. Open government makes sure people can access the information they need to understand what their government is doing, and it increases their ability to take part in their democracy.
