ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Palette (computing)

A palette is a way of storing color information in computers. It's like a box that can hold lots of different colors, and each color has a special number in the box to help computers find the right color faster. Computers like to work with numbers, so putting all the colors into a box with numbers makes it easier for computers to keep track of them. That way, when you tell a computer you want to use a certain color for something, like a painting, the computer can look in the palette box to find the right color.
