ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pan-Africanism

Pan-Africanism is the idea that all people who identify as African or of African descent can work together to make the world a better place. Just like how a group of friends work together to complete a project, people who identify as African can work together to make sure their voices are heard and their needs are met.

If you think of the world as a big puzzle, then every continent is a piece of that puzzle. Africa is a big piece! Pan-Africanism is about recognizing the importance of this piece and working together to make sure it fits in well with the rest of the world.

Just like how you might have a best friend who lives far away, people who identify as African can also live far away from each other. But that doesn't mean they can't still come together and support each other. For example, let's say your best friend needs help with their homework. They can call you and you can help them over the phone. The same idea applies to Pan-Africanism. People who identify as African can work together even if they live in different parts of the world.

Pan-Africanism is also about respecting and celebrating African culture. Just like how you might have a special dance or song from your family, African people have their own unique dances, songs, and traditions. Pan-Africanism encourages people to share and celebrate these traditions with each other.

Overall, Pan-Africanism is about working together, respecting each other's culture, and making sure Africa and its people have a strong voice in the world.
