ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Parallel (geometry)

Okay, so imagine you have two straight lines. They run next to each other and never meet. This is called parallel. Just like how train tracks are parallel.

In geometry, parallel lines have very special properties. They always stay the same distance apart from each other, no matter how far they go.

This means that if you draw a third line that cuts across them, it will never touch either of the parallel lines. It just passes right between them.

Parallel lines also have special angles called corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, and alternate exterior angles. But we don't need to get into all that now.

Just remember, parallel lines stay the same distance apart and never meet. It's like they're best friends who never want to be too close or too far away from each other!
