Parietal eye

The parietal eye is a special kind of eye that some animals have on the top of their head. It's not like a regular eye that they use to see things clearly, but it helps these animals to tell if it's light or dark outside.

When the parietal eye senses light, it sends a message to the animal's brain to let them know that it's day time. When it's dark, the parietal eye doesn't send this message, which lets the animal know that it's night time.

Some animals that have a parietal eye include lizards, frogs, and fish. For these animals, the parietal eye is really important for their survival. It helps them to know when it's safe to be active and hunt for food, and when they need to hide and be still to avoid predators.
