ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Parliamentary opposition

Parliamentary opposition is like when you and your sibling disagree about something and you both want different things. In a big group called Parliament, there are different groups called parties who have different ideas about how things should be done in the country. The party that is not in charge of the Parliament is called the opposition party. They ask questions and challenge the decisions made by the party in charge, just like you would ask your sibling why they are making a certain decision. It's like a big debate where each party tries to convince others that their ideas are better. The opposition party is an important part of Parliament because it makes sure that the party in charge is doing what's best for the country and not just what they want.
