ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Perfectionism (psychology)

Perfectionism is when someone wants everything to be perfect. Like when a kid draws a picture and wants it to be perfect, with no mistakes. But sometimes grown-ups can feel that way too. They want everything they do to be perfect, and they get upset if something isn't exactly right.

Sometimes, perfectionism can be good because it can make someone work really hard and do their best. But sometimes, it can be a problem because it can make someone really stressed out and unhappy. They might worry a lot about not being perfect and get upset if they make any mistakes. So, it's important to remember that we all make mistakes sometimes, and that's okay! It's important to try our best and learn from our mistakes, but we don't have to be perfect all the time.
