Persian calendar

Okay kiddo, do you see how we have a calendar that tells us what day, month, and year it is? Just like that, the Persian calendar is also a calendar that tells people in Iran and other countries when different events happen, like festivals and holidays.

But here's the catch, the Persian calendar is a little different than the one we use. In the Gregorian calendar that we use, there are 365 days in a normal year and 366 days in a leap year, while the Persian calendar only has 365 days in a normal year but to make up for it, they have longer months.

The Persian calendar has 12 months and each month starts at the same time as a new moon. For example, the first day of spring is the first day of the first month of the Persian calendar, which starts at the same time as when the moon is sighted in the sky.

Apart from the months, the calendar also has some special days like the Persian New Year, which starts on the first day of spring and is celebrated by Persian people all around the world. Another important day is the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday, called Eid-e Milad, which is also celebrated in Persian culture.

So, there you have it, kiddo. The Persian calendar is just like our calendar, but with some differences in the lengths of months and special days.
