Personification

Personification means giving human characteristics to things that are not human. For example, if you said “the sun is smiling down on the day”, you are personifying the sun by giving it a human emotion (smiling). Personification is often used in stories and poems to help readers understand things better and make them more interesting. It can also be used to show how something feels or what it might be thinking.
