Pheromone

Think about when you smell something like cookies baking and it makes you feel hungry, right? Well, animals have a similar thing called pheromones.

Pheromones are chemicals that animals make to talk to each other without using words. They use these chemicals to tell other animals things like "I am ready to mate with you" or "I am scared" or "this is my territory, stay away!"

So, just like smelling something yummy makes you feel a certain way, animals can smell these chemicals and feel a certain way too. And, just like how some smells are stronger than others, some pheromones are stronger than others too.

Even though we can't smell them or communicate with pheromones like animals can, they are still important in the animal world for talking and understanding each other.
