ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Philosophical pessimism

Philosophical pessimism is a way of thinking about the world that is focused on the bad things that happen or that may happen. It looks at the world as a bad place and everything in it as mostly bad. This can make someone feel sad about life because it's hard to be optimistic when pessimism is your outlook. Pessimism can lead to feeling hopeless or helpless, and can cause someone to give up on their goals and dreams.
