Pillar box

Imagine you have a special place, like a mailbox or a drawer, where you keep all the important letters and papers that come to your house. A pillar box is like a giant, red mailbox that is usually found on the street. Instead of just one family using it, lots of different people can put their letters and postcards inside. It's called a pillar box because it has a tall, vertical shape, like a pillar or a column. When you put something in the pillar box, it gets collected and taken to a big post office, where it gets sorted and sent on its way to the right destination.
