ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Piloting

Piloting is when someone drives or controls an airplane or a plane. Just like how you use the steering wheel to drive a car, pilots use different controls to fly an airplane. They have a stick called a yoke that helps them move the plane up, down, left, and right. Pilots also use pedals to control the rudder, which helps the plane turn left or right.

Flying a plane requires a lot of planning and communication too, just like how you have to plan a trip with your family. Pilots need to make sure they have enough fuel, check the weather and traffic, and communicate with air traffic controllers to make sure they stay safe in the air.

When it's time to take off, the pilot pushes the throttle forward to make the plane go faster and lift off the ground. Once in the air, pilots use their controls to make sure the plane stays level and flies smoothly. They also adjust the engines to make sure they're running at the right speed and power.

When it's time to land, pilots carefully guide the plane to the runway and use the controls to make sure they touch down smoothly. It can be tricky to land a plane, but with lots of practice and training, pilots learn to do it safely.

Overall, piloting is a really cool and important job that helps people travel all around the world!
