Pioneer plaque

Okay kiddo, do you know what a plaque is? It's like a flat piece of metal or wood with writing or pictures on it that you hang on a wall.

So, a long time ago, scientists sent a spacecraft called Pioneer 10 into space to explore the outer planets of our solar system. They wanted to send a message to any other intelligent beings that might come across the spacecraft in the future.

To do this, they made a special plaque, which is like a big metal wall-hanging, that had pictures and symbols on it. These pictures showed where Earth was in relation to other stars and galaxies, what humans looked like, and even had a picture of a man and woman holding hands.

The idea was that if any aliens found the plaque, they could use the pictures to figure out where we are and what we look like.

So, that's what a Pioneer plaque is, a special message we sent to any aliens that might exist in the universe.
