ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pipe (fluid conveyance)

Imagine you want to move some water from one place to another place. But you don't want to carry it in buckets because you have a lot of water and it's really heavy. So, you can use a pipe, which is like a long, skinny tube that you can put the water in and it will flow through it.

A pipe can be made of different materials like plastic or metal. And they can be different sizes too. Sometimes the pipes are so big that you can walk inside them!

Pipes have different uses. For example, some pipes carry water to your house for you to use. Others carry gas that you use to cook with. And some pipes are used to transport oil from one place to another.

To use a pipe, you just have to connect it to the place where you want the water or the gas or the oil to go. Then, you let the liquid flow through it.

But to make sure that the liquid flows smoothly and doesn't leak, you need to make sure the pipe is the right size for the liquid that you want to put in it. And you have to make sure the pipe is connected tightly so that it doesn't come apart or leak.
