Pitch estimation

Pitch estimation is when we try to figure out how high or low a sound is. It's like when you hear someone singing a song and you can tell if their voice is going up or down. Just like how we can hear if they're singing high notes or low notes, pitch estimation is when we use math to figure out exactly how high or low the notes are.

We can do this by measuring how fast the sound waves are moving. Sound waves are like little vibrations that move through the air and into our ears. When a sound has a high pitch, it means the sound waves are moving very quickly. When a sound has a low pitch, it means the sound waves are moving more slowly.

Scientists and engineers use special machines and computer programs to help them measure pitch. They listen to a sound and the machine does all the math to figure out how high or low the notes are. This is really useful because it can help us understand music better, and it can help us create and design new sounds for movies, video games, and other kinds of entertainment.
