The Polar Jet is a jet stream—a fast-flowing ribbon of air— that circles the planet in the area of the Earth's poles. It is located at the upper part of the atmosphere, and like the other jet streams, it helps to guide the way that weather travels around the world. The Polar Jet is usually quite strong and it blows very strongly to the east direction because of the Earth's rotation. This strong air flow can cause strong winds, storms, and changes in temperature in different regions around the world.
