Polymer degradation

Polymer degradation is when a polymer (a type of material made from many molecules linked together) starts to break down. This can happen because of exposure to heat, sunlight, or chemicals, which make the molecules move apart and break apart. Over time, the polymer will break down and become brittle or even fall apart. It's like playing tug-of-war with a rope - the rope can only hold together for so long before it breaks. In the same way, polymers can only hold together for so long before they break down.
