ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Polynomial interpolation

Polynomial interpolation is like a puzzle. You have some pieces of a puzzle that fit together to make a picture. In this puzzle, you start with a few points, and then figure out what the shape of the whole picture should be. To do this, you use a polynomial. A polynomial is a formula using numbers and symbols that can be used to connect the points and create a smooth curve. Then you can use this curve to describe the whole picture, knowing the parts you have.
