Polynomial regression

Polynomial regression is a type of regression (a way of measuring relationships between things) that works best when there is a non-linear relationship between the independent (or predictor) variable and the dependent (or outcome) variable. It works by finding a polynomial (an equation with two or more terms, like x2 + 3x + 7) that best fits the data. It then uses this polynomial to predict future values of the dependent variable.
