Poverty threshold is the amount of money people need to have in order to have enough food, clothes and other things that they need. It is the amount of money that is considered to be the minimum needed for someone to live a comfortable life. The amount varies depending on how many people are in a family and their age, but the government uses a certain amount to identify who is "poor". People who don't have enough money to meet the poverty threshold are considered to be living in poverty.
