ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Prefabricated buildings

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with Legos or building blocks before? They come in little pieces that you can put together to make bigger things like a castle or a spaceship, right? Well, now imagine if someone made really big lego pieces that could be put together to make a whole building! That's what a prefabricated building is.

Instead of building a house or a school or an office from scratch, all the pieces of the building are made in a factory and then transported to the construction site. The big pieces can be walls, floors, roofs, and even stairs and cabinets!

Once all the pieces arrive at the construction site, workers can put them together like a puzzle to create the building. This saves a lot of time and money compared to building everything on site. Plus, since the pieces are made in a factory, they can be made really precise and high-quality!

Some people might think that prefabricated buildings are not as strong or durable as regular buildings, but that's not true. In fact, many prefabricated buildings are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions like earthquakes or hurricanes! And because they are made in a controlled environment, there is less chance of mistakes or errors during construction.

So next time you see construction workers putting together a building really quickly, it might just be a prefabricated one!
