Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a star? It's a really big ball of hot gas that shines in the sky. Well, preon stars are kind of like stars too, but they're made up of even tinier things called preons.
You know how everything is made of tiny little things called atoms? Atoms have even smaller things inside them called protons and neutrons, and those are made up of even smaller things called quarks. Preons are even smaller than quarks, but scientists aren't exactly sure what they're made of yet.
The idea of a preon star is that sometimes when a really big star dies, it can collapse in on itself and become incredibly dense. And if it's dense enough, it might turn into a preon star instead of a regular star.
But here's the thing, we haven't actually found any preon stars yet! Scientists are still trying to figure out if they can exist or not. So right now, preon stars are kind of like a big mystery that we're still trying to solve.
