ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Price

Price is the amount of money you need to give someone to buy something. It's like when you go to the store with your mom or dad and you see a toy you really like. If it says $5 on the tag, that's the price. You need to give the person at the store $5 if you want to take the toy home with you.

Prices can be different for different things. Some toys cost more than others because they are bigger, fancier or made with better materials. Some fruits and vegetables cost more than others because they are in season, or have to be shipped from far away places.

Prices can also change over time. Sometimes things cost more or less depending on how many people want to buy it at a given time. For example, on a hot summer day, more people might want to buy ice cream, so the prices might be higher at that time.

Getting the right price for something is really important for both buyers and sellers. Buyers want to make sure they are getting good value for their money, while sellers want to make sure they are making enough money to keep their business running. That’s why prices are decided by the market demand and supply.
