Proto-Indo-European (PIE) mythology is the religious beliefs and practices of the people who lived in Europe and India thousands of years ago. These ancient people shared a common language that was the basis of many languages spoken today. One of the most popular gods in PIE mythology was the sky god, known as Dyeus. He was believed to live high in the sky and could grant good luck or send bad weather. PIE mythology also included other gods like Ushas, who was the goddess of the dawn, and Vedic deities, who were gods of thunder and rain. People believed that these gods interacted in their lives and that the gods could be talked to through prayer and ritual sacrifice.
