ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Public participation (decision making)

Public participation is when ordinary people take part in making decisions about issues that affect them. People might do this by sharing their ideas about how to solve a problem or by taking part in a vote. People can also get together in groups to talk about the issue and make decisions together. Public participation is important because it helps all members of the public have a say in how things are run and helps create better solutions to problems.
