ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Punjabi Kabaddi

Hey there kiddo, so have you ever heard of Punjabi Kabaddi? No? Well, let me tell you all about it!

Punjabi Kabaddi is a traditional sport that's very popular in Punjab, which is a region in northern India and Pakistan. The game is played between two teams, with each team having seven players.

The aim of the game is for one player, called the raider, to run into the other team's half and try to tag as many of their players as possible before returning to their own half. The catch is that the raider must do all of this in a single breath, while chanting "kabaddi-kabaddi-kabaddi" to show that they're not taking another breath.

But here's the tricky part - while the raider is trying to tag players, the other team is doing their best to catch the raider before they can run back to their own half. And if the raider is caught, they're out and the other team gets a point.

The game goes back and forth like this, with each team taking turns being the raiders and defenders. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

I hope that makes sense, kiddo! It's a really fun and exciting game to watch, and it's been a part of Punjabi culture for a very long time. Maybe one day you'll get to see a game for yourself!
