Punk (fireworks)

Punk is a long stick that is often used to light fireworks. It's a special stick that is made to burn slowly so that it can be used to light other things like fireworks or candles. Think of it like a long matchstick that you can hold in your hand.

Punks are made by soaking a type of wood, like bamboo, in a chemical solution that makes them burn slowly. This chemical is usually potassium nitrate, which is also used in some kinds of fireworks.

When you want to light a punk, you hold the "unburnt" end in your hand and light the other end with a lighter or a match. The punk will then slowly start to burn from the top to the bottom, giving you plenty of time to light your fireworks or whatever else you need to light.

Punks are a very helpful tool when it comes to lighting fireworks safely. They allow you to light the fireworks from a safe distance, without having to use your fingers or get too close to the explosive stuff.
