ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Slow match

Slow match is a special type of rope that is used to light fireworks or guns. It is called slow match because it takes a longer amount of time to burn compared to other types of matches. Just like how a candle burns slowly, the slow match burns at a pace that is not too fast or too slow. This allows people to safely light fireworks or guns without accidentally setting anything on fire. Slow match is made by twisting individual fibers together and then coating the rope with special compounds to make it burn at a controlled rate. When it is time to light a firework or gun, the slow match is held up to a flame and slowly burns down to the explosive material, which sets off the firework or propels the bullet out of the gun.
