ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Quantization (linguistics)

Quantization in linguistics means putting words or phrases into categories based on their quantity or amount. Think of it like sorting marbles into different jars based on how many there are.

For example, in English, we have the quantifiers "some," "many," and "all." "Some" is used when we're not sure of the exact quantity, like "I have some cookies." "Many" means a lot, like "There are many cars on the road." And "all" means every single one, like "All of the students passed the test."

By using quantifiers, we can describe quantities of things without needing to use exact numbers. It's like putting words into little categories to help us understand how much of something there is.
