ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Quantum information science

Quantum Information Science is a new area of study about how to use the weird properties of tiny particles like atoms and photons to store and move information quickly and securely. It is based on the idea that even though particles are really small and difficult to work with, they have special properties that make them very powerful. For example, when particles like atoms or photons are put into certain special states, they can store or send a lot of information in a very small space and they can be used to encrypt information so that only the people who should be able to access that information can do so. It is like special "superpowers" that can help us do things faster and better than before.
