ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Railroad car

Okay, imagine you have a really long train that carries lots of things like toys, food, and even cars. Each of those things sits inside a big box on the train which we call a "railroad car," kind of like the way you might put your toys in a big box to move across the room.

These railroad cars are made of metal and are connected to each other by special hooks. That way, they always stay connected to each other and move down the train tracks together.

The train engine at the front of the train pulls all the railroad cars behind it, just like you might pull a line of toy wagons behind you when you play. And when the train needs to stop or turn, all the cars follow along behind it because they are all attached together.

So, when you see a long train moving down the tracks, each one of those big boxes is a railroad car that's carrying all kinds of things from one place to another. Cool, right?
