Okay kiddo, you know how cars have traffic lights to tell drivers when to stop or go, right? Well, trains have something similar called railway semaphore signals. These signals use big arms that stick out along the tracks and are different colors and positions to tell the train driver what to do.
When the arm is in a horizontal position, it means the train should stop. When the arm is pointing straight up, it means the train can go at normal speed. And when the arm is at a 45-degree angle, it means the train can go but it needs to slow down.
So, just like traffic lights help cars move safely on the roads, railway semaphore signals help trains move safely on the tracks. Cool, huh?
