Random early detection

Random Early Detection (RED) is a method of controlling network traffic that monitors the size of packets travelling on the internet. When it notices that a lot of packets are coming in too quickly, it randomly drops (discards) some of the packets so that the internet doesn't get overloaded. This helps to ensure that all internet users have a smooth online experience.
