ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Raster to vector

Okay, imagine you have a very big coloring book picture that you want to color using special computer tools.

The picture is made up of tiny colored dots, just like the way you color with your own crayons. These little dot pictures are called raster images.

But your computer tools can't work with tiny dots, they need to have big clean lines to work with. This is where the raster to vector conversion comes in.

It's like a grown-up helper who uses a special magic wand that looks at each little colored dot and figures out where all the big lines should go.

So this grown-up helper changes the picture from tiny dots (raster) into really straight lines (vector) that the computer can use. And now you can easily color it in any way you want!
