ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rectisol

Rectisol is a big machine that helps take dirty gas and clean it so it can be used in a helpful way. Kind of like how when you wash your hands, the soap gets rid of all the gross germs and makes your hands clean again.

The dirty gas in this case can come from making oil or gas or other things that we use to power things. It has a lot of impurities in it, which means it isn't helpful for us to use yet. That's where Rectisol comes in.

Inside Rectisol, there are special chemicals called solvents. They're kind of like the soap when you wash your hands. They grab onto all the impurities in the dirty gas and take them out, leaving behind clean gas that can be used to make energy.

Once the solvents have done their job, they get recycled and used again, so they don't go to waste. And then the clean gas can go on to be used in lots of different things, like heating buildings or powering cars.

So, to sum it up: Rectisol is like a big washing machine for dirty gas. It uses special chemicals to take out all the impurities and make it clean and useful again.
