ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Religion and science

Religion and science are two different ways of understanding the world. Religion is a set of beliefs or a set of practices based on an idea of a 'higher power' that exists outside of what humans can see and touch and has a certain amount of influence over the world. Science, on the other hand, is about understanding the natural world through observation and experimentation. Science looks for explanations for the things that happen and tries to understand how the world works. Religion and science can sometimes seem to be in conflict but many people believe that the two ways of understanding the world are actually very compatible, and that it is possible to learn from both.
