Reparations are when a person or company is required to pay back money to someone else because of harm that has been done. In legal terms, this is called "damages" or money awarded by the court to someone who has been wronged as a way of compensating them for their losses. For example, if someone was in a car accident and suffered an injury because of someone else's carelessness, the court may order that the careless driver pay the injured person money for pain and suffering or medical bills. In this way, reparations attempt to make things right and make the injured person whole again.
