ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Repressed memory

Repressed memory is when a person remembers something so bad or scary that they try to forget it. It's like they push the memory down into their brain so that they don't have to think about it, and over time, they can forget all about it. But, even if they don't remember the memory, it can still affect them in different ways, like making them sad, scared, or anxious.
