Rhumbline network

A rhumbline network is like a really big imaginary spider web that connects locations on the Earth's surface. Think of a map of the world, where you can see lines going from one place to another. Those lines are part of the rhumbline network.

Now, do you know what a compass is? It's a tool that helps you know which direction you're going in. When someone travels using a compass, they usually follow a straight line. But on the Earth's surface, those straight lines can be curved!

This is because the Earth is round, like a ball. So when you travel from one place to another, you're actually following a curve. It's a bit like walking around the edge of a ball.

The rhumbline network takes this into account. Instead of drawing straight lines on a map, it uses lines that follow the curves of the Earth's surface. This makes it easier for people to travel from one place to another, because they can follow the lines of the rhumbline network.

So, the rhumbline network helps people get around, like a really big road map or GPS. And just like a spider web, it connects lots of different places in lots of different ways.
