Riparian rights

Riparian rights are rights that people have to use and enjoy the water that is next to their property. The water could be a river, a lake, a creek, or an ocean. It means that if water passes through your property, or if your property borders a body of water, then you have the right to use and enjoy the water. For example, you can swim or fish in the water, or you can use the water to irrigate your gardens or crops. Riparian rights also give you the right to keep the water clean and free of pollution.
