Road furniture is the name for the objects and things that you see on the side of roads and highways when you're driving. They are there to help make the roads safer and easier to use. For example, road signs tell you what the speed limit is, or what type of road you are on. Spiky posts, called 'rumble strips', make a noise when you drive over them to remind you to slow down and pay attention. Road markings are white or yellow lines on the road that show you where to drive. There are also things like street lights, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, speed bumps, bridges, and barriers to keep the traffic flowing in the right direction. All of these objects are road furniture and help make our roads safer and easier to use.
