ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rollbock

Rollbock is like a special train track that helps train cars to move from one track to another track. Imagine you're playing with toy train tracks and you want to move a train car from one track to another track that's not connected. You might have to lift the train car off the track, move it over to the other track, and set it down. But that's not how rollbock works.

Instead, imagine that one track is on top of another track, kind of like a bridge. The train car drives up onto a special platform called a "wagon," and then the wagon rolls along the track underneath the train car. When the wagon gets to the other track, it rolls down and sets the train car down on the new track. It's almost like a slide for train cars!

Rollbocks are used in real life to help trains get where they need to go without having to disconnect all the train cars and move them individually. It saves time and effort, kind of like how using a ramp can be easier than carrying something heavy up stairs. Rollbocks are especially useful when different train tracks have different widths or heights. The train car can stay on the same set of wheels, but it can still move from one track to another.
