Romanization of Bulgarian

When we write words in Bulgarian using the Cyrillic alphabet, some people who don't know the alphabet can have a difficult time reading and pronouncing the words. To make it easier for those people to read and understand Bulgarian words, we can use a system called romanization.

Romanization is when we take the Bulgarian words written in the Cyrillic alphabet and write them using the letters from the Latin alphabet that we use in English. This way, people who know the English alphabet can read the Bulgarian words and know how to pronounce them.

For example, the Bulgarian word "здравей" (which means "hello" in English) can be romanized as "Zdravey".

There are different systems of romanization that can be used for Bulgarian, but they all try to represent the sounds of the Bulgarian language using familiar letters from the Latin alphabet. With romanization, people who don't know the Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet can still understand and communicate in Bulgarian.
