ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Royal and noble title styles

Okay kiddo, do you know what a title is? It's like a special name people use to show that they are important or have a special job.

Now, some people have really special titles like "royal" or "noble". Royals are like the king or queen of a country, and nobles are like really important people who own a lot of land or have a lot of money.

But it's not just as simple as saying "Hey, I'm a noble!" or "Hey, I'm a royal!" There are different ways to use these titles depending on who you are and who you're talking to.

For example, let's say you're a king. You might introduce yourself as "His Majesty, King Bob". That's because "His Majesty" is the special way kings talk about themselves.

Or, let's say you're a duke. You might say "My Lord, Duke Dave" when you introduce yourself. "My Lord" is a special way of talking to nobles.

These title styles can get pretty complex, with different rules and traditions depending on the country and time period. But the basic idea is that they are a way of showing respect and importance, and certain people use certain titles to show who they are and what their role is.
