ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rumble strip

A rumble strip is like a special kind of road that helps drivers drive safely. It's a stretch of road that has a bunch of little bumps on it called corrugations. When a car drives over the strip, the wheels go up and down over the bumps, and it feels like a loud vibrating noise, almost like a brrrrrrrrrrrr sound.

This noise helps alert the driver that they are veering off the road or getting too close to the edge. If a driver falls asleep or gets distracted, the rumble strip wakes them up and reminds them to pay attention to the road. It helps prevent accidents and keep drivers safe.

So just like how a speed bump slows down a car, rumble strips make a lot of noise and bumps to help keep drivers from going off the road. Always make sure to pay attention to the rumble strips, so you don't get into an accident!
